2 Tim 2:3-4    Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of the Messiah Yahshua. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer. We must view ourselves as soldiers in Yahshua’s army. He has enlisted us to do a job. That job involves taking the good news of salvation to the people of the nations of the world. But we do so as soldiers. We serve at His beck and call. Soldiers do what they are told. They follow orders without complaint and always obey the chain of command. Our chain of command leads through Yahshua, our Savior, to Yahweh our Father. We are obligated to obey their commands, which are clearly defined in the 66 book compliance code that they left for us. As soldiers serving in their army, we cannot become overly involved or entangled in the affairs of this life. We certainly are responsible for our family responsibilities and obligations and for being good employees or employers and for being a good neighbor. But all of these obligations are included in the orders given to us by our commanding officer. Performing these tasks do not deter us from serving as soldiers. The civilian affairs that we must avoid are those pursuits that take us away from faithfully serving our commander-in-chief as our primary obligation in this life. A good soldier realizes that he may have to go off to perform a duty, leaving his family behind but also doing everything he can to be certain that they are provided for while he is away. A good soldier orders his life so that he may perform well all that is asked of him in every aspect of his life. Be a good soldier. Perform your obligations to those to whom you are obligated but remember that you are soldier first in Yahweh’s army.
