DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SEPTEMBER 7, 2018

9/7/2018 Ps 138:1 I will praise you, O Yahweh, with all my heart; before the “Elohim” I will sing your praise.

When you thank Yahweh for blessings, or provisions, or interventions, is it heartfelt? To what extent do investigate the very deepest part of your spirit, mind, and heart when you thank Yahweh. Every day, Yahweh is there for us and often without us even realizing that He has done something for us. When you thank Yahweh in prayer, are you merely mouthing words or do your thoughts of thanks bring you to the very brink of tears or bursts of joy? One or the other should always accompany the thought that Yahweh has done something for you. We either realize that Yahweh has intervened even though we may be undeserving (after all, we are not always as faithful as we should be), or we are overwhelmed with joy at some great blessing we have received. One of these two acknowledgments should always accompany our prayers of thanks to Yahweh. Some say that worshiping Yahweh should be an unemotional experience. However, when you read David’s words or the words of other Bible authors, it is clear to see that they had emotional thoughts about the joys of worshiping Yahweh and expressing their appreciation. Each day remember to thank Yahweh for all He does for you and make certain that your words of thanks are from the heart.
