DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR DECEMBER 01, 2019

No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn bushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:43-45
Whatever reigns within the heart determines the thoughts, comments, actions and behavior shown to others. Each one is either a good person with a good heart and good actions or an evil person with behavior that displays wicked acts. We can accept this as fact as we look at those around us and judge them to be either good or bad, righteous or evil, converted or unconverted, a good tree or a bad tree. But do you take an honest look at yourself?
Deep within what are you like? Are your friends, relatives and associates always incorrectly characterizing you as being selfish, or arrogant, or Lacking compassion, sympathy or empathy for others? Perhaps it’s not that they are wrong. Perhaps the problem is that there are real changes that you must make. Perhaps you are not being honest with yourself about you.
None of us is perfect. We all need to make some changes to our behavior, or character. Pruning is necessary for us to bear good fruit and to do so abundantly. Eliminate the evil store in your heart and build the good store and Yahweh will bless you for being more like Him.
