DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR JUNE 5, 2018

6/05/2018 Job 22:22-26 Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart. If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines, then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you. Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty and will lift your face to Elohim.
Eliphaz had a proper understanding of the mercy of Yahweh. If we return to Him, He will accept us. When we falter through sin, we must acknowledge those sins, repent, and turn back to our Creator. He is merciful and desires to have a personal relationship with each human being. From the moment we turn our hearts to Him, He is there to accept us. But we must place nothing before Him in our lives. None of our personal possessions or relationships must be more important to us than our relationship with Him. This does not mean that we should ignore our spouse or children or parents or even our neighbors. Yahweh has given us instructions that encourage loving associations on each of these levels. He expects for us to show and express our love for our neighbors, parents, children, and spouse just as He does. We should value our relationships but not to the point where we would violate one of Yahweh’s laws, commandments, statutes or judgments. Look closely at your life. Acknowledge the sins you have committed and return to Yahweh. Do this while maintaining the loving relationships you have with those important to you. But remember that we must value our relationship with Yahweh most of all.
