DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR AUGUST 23, 2018

8/23/2018 Jac 4:17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.

You are responsible for what you do with what you know. We all have some knowledge of right and wrong. In fact, every culture includes a basic sense of right and wrong. When one rejects following what he or she knows to be wrong, he sins. Sin is a strong term and one that most people refrain from using. However, here in Jacob 4 we are clearly told that if we do not the things that we know to be right and proper, then we sin. This is one of the most basic definitions of sin. It makes it quite simple for anyone who desires to live a life pleasing to Yahweh to determine how well they are complying with His command to avoid sin. We know what is right. All we must do is do it.
