DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR OCTOBER 15, 2018

10/15/2018 1 Cor 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Master Yahshua the Messiah, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Divisions. Schisms. Rifts. Breaks. Each of us has the personal responsibility to avoid divisions in our lives. We cannot have schisms in our family life nor in our occupational life, nor in our social life, but most importantly not in our spiritual life. Yahweh is one. Yahshua is one with Him. His people are at one with both. Rifts often occur in our lives because of someone’s stubbornness. And sometimes we are the stubborn one. Look closely at the people problems that exist in your life. To what extent are those problems due to your obstinacy? How much of any division in your life—either with your spouse, or children, or supervisor, or employee, or neighbor—can be attributed to you? Be honest. We often place all blame on others and accept none ourselves. Frequently, there is there is enough blame for all involved. However, we all know that there are also times when, if we were truly honest with ourselves, we would admit that the problem completely rests with ourselves. Paul is speaking to the Corinthian congregation, but his words are appropriate for each of us today. Each one must do his or her part to eliminate divisions and, further, to avoid future divisions. Look closely at your life. Make certain that you are not the divisive one. Instead be the one who helps to establish an environment of unity in every phase of your life.
