DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR MAY 5, 2019

5/5/2019 2 Chron 29:10-11 Now I intend to make a covenant with Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel, so that his fierce anger will turn away from us. My sons, do not be negligent now, for Yahweh has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense.”
King Hezekiah had an intense desire to enter into a personal agreement, a covenant, with Yahweh from the beginning of his reign. His heart dismayed at the evil and wicked behavior that had prevailed in Judah. He recognized that Yahweh was angry with the idolatry that persisted and would continue to punish Judah for their wickedness. Hezekiah reminded the priests and Levites that they were entrusted with a great responsibility and were therefore required to live by Yahweh’s high standards. In like manner, we are expected to raise our standards above the standards of the people around us. We are expected to have hearts set on fulfilling our part of the covenant we agreed to with our Father at our immersion. Keep your standards high. Keep your focus set on performing Yahweh’s will. Doing so will deflect Yahweh’s anger from you.
