DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR DECEMBER 5, 2019

12/05/2019 Luke 2:25-32 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Master’s Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Yahshua to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised Elohim, saying: “Sovereign Yahweh, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” Simeon was a man that we all envy in some ways. Yahweh revealed to him that he would not die until he literally saw the man that would bring salvation to all men, both Gentile and Jew alike. When Simeon was blessed to see the baby Yahshua, Yahweh fulfilled His promise. With the birth of this special child, Yahweh would also fulfill the promise He made to Abraham. All the earth would be blessed through this son of Miriam and Joseph, this child of the line of Abraham—Yahshua. Yahshua’s birth was indeed a blessing for all men. We were not there to see Him and yet we all benefit by His birth, life, death, and resurrection. Unlike Simeon, we do not have to wait to discover who the Messiah would be. We know who He is and what He stood for. Salvation is available to all of mankind. Individually, all we must do is follow the example of righteous living that He left. Simeon rejoiced at seeing and knowing who Yahshua was. He understood what was being revealed to him. Do you know and appreciate who Yahshua is? His suffering and the blood He shed was to atone for our sins. We must yield our human sense of self and turn our lives over to Him. We must eliminate all pride and place concerns for this life in their proper place. Yahweh must be first just He was for Yahshua. All the details for this life will take care of themselves if we truly subordinate self to Him. Look to Yahshua. Simeon did and recognized the great blessing He received in seeing the Messiah. Do you? You may not literally see Him, but He is there in everything you do if open your spiritual sight to see Him. Look for Him today.
