DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR DECEMBER 7, 2019 SHABBAT SHALOM

12/7/2019 Pro 14:27 The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death. Many ministers and religious organizations today refrain from the “fire and damnation” messages that dominated the 1800’s and early 1900’s. However, the fact of the matter is that without a certain fear of reprisal, man rushes to perform evil without hesitation. This is the reason crimes are committed in the dark or at times when others are not looking. They fear the punishment for their actions and take precautions to prevent being apprehended. We must fear Yahweh’s punishment for actions we take that are outside of His will. He clearly defines what is right and wrong for us in His Word. He also describes the punishment for violating His will. When we consistently and arrogantly oppose Him, death becomes a certainty. Some experience death immediately, such as those who die while committing some type of crime. Others die slowly within as the sickness of eats away their life. But each one commits spiritual suicide by defying Yahweh. Being afraid of Yahweh is a good thing. Knowing that He can exert immediate and direct punishment for sin is a valuable deterrent. Use the healthy fear of Yahweh to see more clearly the counsel, advice and admonitions that He gives. In doing so, you will experience the fountain of life He has promised to His people.
