Today is day 36 in the count towards Pentecost
Then Yahweh came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, Yahweh. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “Yahweh, Yahweh Elohim, the compassionate and gracious Elohim, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.” Exodus 34:5-7
Theologians have stated that we are living in the dispensation of grace, meaning that Yahweh is showing His grace to sinners. While this is true, they also profess that during the time of the exodus, Yahweh was the Elohim of vengeance, executing His wrath on mankind, which was true. Yahweh executed His wrath on the pagan nations which didn’t live according to His statutes and commandments. But if we look at these scriptures we see, that even for the Israelites, Yahweh was the Elohim of mercy, grace, who was abundant in goodness and truth, whose loving-kindness was poured out on mankind. We need to remember that Yahweh doesn’t change, that He is consistent. While for now, He is the Elohim of grace and mercy, He will once again pour out His wrath on a disobedient and rebellious people and will by no means clear the guilty. Strive to be on His good side.
