Daily Devotional for July 26, 2020
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. Mat 7:24-27
Our Savior spoke these words of instruction at the conclusion of a time of teaching that we call the sermon on the mount. The ‘words of mine’ that He refers to are not limited to the teaching that He gave them on this particular day. These words are all of the words recorded in the Evangels. They are words of life that help us to know how to act and react to different situations and problems. They are words that help us to develop the type of spiritual nature that He had. They are words that, when applied, draw us closer to Him and more importantly to our Heavenly Father Yahweh.
Read through Mat. 5, 6, and 7 again. Notice how the focus is on two great principles, love Yahweh and love your fellow man. If you will always apply these principles in your life, you will receive blessings untold both now in the age to come.
