DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 11, 2018

2/11/2018 Luke 18:9-14 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Yahshua told this parable: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: ‘Elohim, I thank you that I am not like other men — robbers, evildoers, adulterers — or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘Elohim, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before Elohim. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Arrogance will hinder your relationship with our Heavenly Father and our Savior. The prayers of the arrogant do not go beyond the ceiling of the room in which they are offered. On the other hand, humility and acknowledgment of your character flaws and sins will result in Yahweh listening to your pleas for intervention. Intervention may not be immediately obvious. Every action Yahweh takes works within an overall plan that is being unveiled before our very eyes. But knowing that you have sinned and fallen short of Yahweh’s expectation and admitting the same is a positive first step in effectively communicating with Him. We can never look down on others. We can never think ourselves to be better than others. We must always display humility. Humility will yield acquittal for our sins (justification). Arrogance will lead to destruction. Be as the poor man who did not believe that he had any right to ask anything of Yahweh because he knew he was a sinner. Yahshua came to heal us from our iniquities and He will do so if we allow Him to.
