DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR MAY 18, 2018

5/18/2018 1 Samuel 15:22-23 But Samuel replied: “Does Yahweh delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of Yahweh? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of Yahweh, he has rejected you as king.”

What better way to show Yahweh that we love Him, than to obey His voice? As a child that loves his parents will strive to be pleasing to them, so we, as Yahweh’s children show our love by listening to His word and obeying what is said. Witchcraft is a sin punishable by death as is idolatry. Yahweh equates rebellion and stubbornness with sins that deserve the death penalty. When He speaks we better heed what is said and put it into practice. By doing this we show our loving Father in heaven that we love Him.
