Do not be deceived: Yahweh cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:7-9
Many of the analogies from the Bible are based on an agricultural mindset. Such is the case with these 2 verses. Before anyone can sow seed they first have to determine what it is they want to grow. Their decision may be based on the return of their harvest, how much it will profit them in the long run. After the seed is planted it must be nurtured by regular watering and feeding before the end result is obtained.
Notice that 2 choices are to be made, to either sow to the flesh or to the spirit. They both will grow and will bring forth fruit, but the fruit of one has a much better return. We likewise have to make decisions concerning our life. Will we nurture the flesh and reap corruption or will we walk in Yahweh’s Spirit and reap life eternal?
Let’s not grow weary in well doing. Don’t think that the good we are doing is not having an effect on those we come in contact with. For we will reap life eternal if we don’t lose heart and give up.
