Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your Elohim. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Exodus 20:8-11
To remember means to not forget. We are not to forget the Sabbath. The Jewish people have not lost the weekly Sabbath cycle. Keeping the Sabbath means proper preparation. As Yahweh’s people we set our week around the Sabbath. The six day work week was ordained by Yahweh and we are to rest on the Sabbath. The weekly cycle includes a preparation day that allows us to properly prepare for the Sabbath. The Sabbath day is the only day that affords us the true rest we are to experience. It is the only day that doesn’t have the guilt associated with not doing any work. Try not doing work on any of the other days and the guilt of not being productive will manifest itself. No one is to work including slaves, animals or even the stranger that is visiting within your gates. Yahweh has given us a 24 hour day, and we should tithe of our time, 2 hours and 24 minutes every day. The Sabbath is a perfect way to tithe of the time that Yahweh gives us. Begin celebrating the Sabbath with us and you’ll wonder how you ever did without it. For more information on the Sabbath “click” on the publications button and then click on “The Sabbath” article.
