For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of Elohim rather than burnt offerings.
Like Adam, they have broken the covenant—
they were unfaithful to me there. Hosea 6:6-7
Yahweh is describing what it is that He wants from mankind. While sacrifices and offerings are required, we now offer the fruit of our lips, and our lives to Yahweh instead of bulls and goats (Heb.13:15, Hosea14:2, Romans 12:1). These sacrifices are of no use unless we have mercy for our fellowman and a close personal relationship with our Heavenly Father. Yahshua must have had these scriptures in mind when He stated “Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye have done, and not to leave the other undone.” (Matthew 23:23)
Many will state that the law was not given until Israel reached mount Sinai but notice that even Adam had transgressed the covenant. It can be proven that the law was in effect during Adam’s life. It will of course be in effect during the Millennial reign of Yahshua on this Earth. The covenant is based upon keeping Yahweh’s Holy law.
