He who is full loathes honey,
but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet. Proverbs 27:7
Have you ever had so much to eat, that when offered dessert, you cringed due to the fact of how miserable you felt at the time? What about being so hungry you didn’t care what you ate as long as it was acceptable? We can compare this to spiritual matters as well. In this country of plenty, most people don’t get hungry and therefore don’t feel they have a need. But the ones that are hungering and thirsting for righteousness are doing all they can to obtain that which they know they need. Yahweh’s doctrine is likened to rain and dew (Deut. 32:2) and those who are like a dry and parched land are drinking in as much as they can get. Yahweh’s word is not bitter, but as sweet as honey and therefore easy to digest and consume. Never forget that a truly thankful person will not complain about what they receive. Lets make it our goal to offer thanks and praise for the blessings, which we don’t deserve, that Yahweh bestows upon us.
