A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Prov 22:1
We are reminded in several passages that Yahweh is not a respecter of persons and neither should we. However, as Solomon tells us, we must be concerned with building a good name. We cannot ignore how others view us. We know there will be times when we are falsely accused. We know some will malign us for no good reason. However, if we always treat others with respect, if we never take advantage of others, if we show love in every situation, statements tearing down our character will be the exception rather than the rule. If the prevailing thought about you by those around you is negative, take the time to review yourself honestly. Consider what others say and look deeply and sincerely within to determine the merits of their views. Yahweh expects for us to be honest with ourselves. He will be. So seek to build a good name in your family, community, and work environment. When you do so, you will receive favor from man and Yahweh.
