But he stands alone, and who can oppose him?
He does whatever he pleases.
He carries out his decree against me,
and many such plans he still has in store. Job 23:13-14
Job may have viewed Yahweh as the cause of his anguish and suffering when he spoke these words. However, most translators indicate that this passage shows that Job understood that no one can alter Yahweh’s plan. We know that Yahweh’s plan for man was designed before man’s creation. Yahweh does in fact have a plan. We can petition Him during difficult times and may even sway Him in some ways. Hezekiah did this when he asked for healing instead of death and was granted another 15 years of life. However, the overall plan will not change, because Yahweh does not change.
Far too many people spend too much of their time and energy trying to change Yahweh’s plan instead of seeking to understand it better. Yahweh wants for man to comply with His laws, statutes, commandments, and ordinances. This will prepare man for the next set of responsibilities that Yahweh will give to him. But that will take place after man has been changed into and becomes a part of the Elohim family. The plan is set and cannot be changed.
Seek to understand and then accept the plan. This will bring much more peace to your life and will help you secure a role in the next phase of Yahweh’s plans for man.
